IT and job market : a schizophrenic story

I don't know if it's the same in all countries but in France we receive sometimes very opposite messages. On all social networks you see message from IT recruiters : "We can't find developers, there's a lack in the market" or "We need more women in IT". We hear this for years. I have always been interested in IT, I worked for IT companies most of my career but I wasn't working in technical jobs like developers, I was working in HR.  When I burnout, I chose to completely change my career to follow a reskilling in development. Six months of training, three months of internship. All the people in my class were there for a reskilling too, for a lot of different reasons  and we all heard the same, IT is one of the most recruiting industries. But there is an untold truth.  Not everyone can become a developer On my class maybe half or less have found a job after the reskilling. Why ? Many reasons. Like me they needed a change in their career because the...

The social dilemma : the evil algorithms

If you are using social networks (if you read this article I assume that you do), I recommend you badly to watch the Netflix Documentary called " The social dilemma ". You will hear testimonies of people who worked for Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo or Google. They explain the danger of social media and why they quit. That's scary !  That's why I wanted to write about targeted ads.  These last 2 or 3 years a large part of my spending are due to targeted ads on social media (especially Facebook). I'm not usually a compulsive buyer but those media are so fucking good to show me what I want ! (or I believe I want).  The AI algorithms have evil strategies The daily harassment  They send me a targeted ad, I'm like "oh those shoes are nice ! But I don't need shoes". Then, I continue to scroll and move on. But the next day, they send me again the same ad ! Then I'm like "those shoes are very cool ! But I still don't need shoes". The next day...

Companies Comedy Show

This post is a kind of book review. To be honest I'm not a great reader but when I heard about this book I absolutely had to read it. If I had written a book, it probably looked like this one :  "La comédie (in)humaine" from Nicolas Bouzou and Julia De Funes. I have mostly the same vision about companies like them and that's why I'm writing this post. Many people (maybe you too) observed some changes in our organizations. Bad changes. They affect everyone in the companies, employees with seniority and even the new graduate employees. Seniors have the feeling to have lost something, the youngest has the feeling not to find what they expected. I work in the same company for 10 years, so I can tell you I've really seen evolution. When I started this job, I was in a small team : it was nice, we were somewhat close and supportive. We had work to do, some rush times, but we had time to live, time to laugh, time to take a break. It was comfortable and I liked my job...
