Why Bojack Horseman is the best TV-show.

I have to warn you first, i’m a fangirl.

Many friends told me they didn’t like Bojack Horseman and dropped it. I answered “to each his own”, but inside I think “oh my god this guy sucks so hard ! Is he really my friend ?!. *Laughing

I understand that BJH is a really dark and cynical TV show and not everybody can like that type of humour. But I never found a TV show so human (and with human-animals). Emotions, experiences are so real and relevant to me that I wondered how Raphael Bob-Waksberg could write all this. After the first season, I told myself,if I met him in real life, we probably understood each other so much that I could fall in love with him”. That’s the first time I reacted like that after watching a TV-show. It was like someone had understood all my deepest and darkest feelings : “Really, I’m not the only one to feel this way ?”.

When I started to watch BJH I was in a moment in my life very tough and dark. I think it’s probably the reason I liked it so much. I'm going to say something horrible but when I was watching BJH I was telling to myself “there is worse than me”. I was relieved somehow, it helped me put things into perspective. My life wasn’t so bad, it was just a difficult period to go through.

What I really like in Bojack is that in all episodes you can identify yourself to a character on the show. There is always an emotion or an experience you already felt or lived in your life (unless you live maybe in paradise). I didn’t think it was possible but in the last seasons, I even succeeded in identifying myself to Todd. I mean Todd ! The guy who wears tongs and winter cap all year. *laughing*

I think there is only one character who is totally annoying me : Diane. She’s so often bloody annoying ! Turning all problems into a international drama. Such a drama queen ! I liked her in the first season, she was introvert, she doesn’t like parties and socializing. I could identify to myself. But she went totally crazy in the next seasons. Hysterical sometimes. And she goes too far sometimes in the feminism cause. No, I can’t. I don’t say I’m against feminism, but I’m far to agree with all arguments.

No, it’s not.

One last argument. This one can only convince you that Bojack is the best TV-Show. In season 2, episode 3, it makes reference to the TV-Show “Family Matters” and the character Steve Urkel. In “Family Matters”, Steve Urkel invented a machine for transforming him into a sexy seducer named Stefan Urquelle. It was so unexpected to see a reference like this, I’ve been bluffed. I was watching this TV-show when I was young, it made me smile. You maybe cannot understand if you’re less than 30.

I really hope you’ll watch Bojack and you’ll enjoy it as much as me.
